We Choose is our ministry plan—it provides a framework for our church to pursue spiritual health and advance God's Kingdom both within and outside of our local congregations. We believe our mission of making disciples is intertwined with serving our communities at home and the global church.

This summer, we hosted Ascend camps at our Powdersville and Pelham campuses, and we had a total of 74 kids attend who are experiencing various forms of grief and hardship. With the sacrificial care of our amazing leaders and volunteers, the kids and students experienced fun, connection with other kids in similar situations, and the love and hope given to us by Christ.

Over the past few weeks, we have collected 1,249 backpacks with school supplies for children in need across the Upstate. It has been a blessing to be able to deliver these backpacks to local DSS workers and other partners knowing that each one has been filled with care. These vulnerable children each have unique circumstances and barriers to the gospel, so we are praying that the gift of a backpack will speak to them of Jesus' love and provision.

This summer, a team of 12 adults and 10 students traveled to Kenya to support our partners in OVC Kenya, a program that provides sustainable support and promotes long-term relationships with orphans and vulnerable children in Kenya. Through our partnership with Bernard Kabaru and local churches in Limuru, Kenya, we are helping expand an existing program that provides physical, academic, and relational support to children in need within each church’s local community.

This past weekend, Matt Williams gave our church body an update on our Natural Burial grounds. Natural burial is a way to shepherd our hearts and minds as we surround our loved ones in death. As a peaceful, less expensive, and simple alternative to traditional burial methods, there is no vault, coffin, or embalming. As a result, costs of a funeral are kept low, and we become better stewards of the environment.

We believe discipleship happens best when we invite God’s Word and God’s people to speak into our lives with the intent of life change. Discipleship at Grace looks different depending on your season of life and particular needs. This summer, our campuses are offering a variety of studies and groups—some focusing on Scripture, some focusing on a relevant topic, and some equipping people facing a particular challenge or season of life.

Mosaic is our special needs and disabilities ministry, and our staff and volunteers do an amazing job supporting all our Mosaic families. Caring for a family member with a disability can be challenging and isolating in the best of circumstances, so we want to create space for families to connect with one another, enjoy community, and get some time to recharge.
