A Call to Zeal

Teaching Pastor; Staff Governing Elder; Staff Director
The church at Laodicea lacks self-awareness. They believe they are in a good position, but Jesus is clear that they are worthy of pity. In the same way, we must ground ourselves in the reality that the One who was pierced for us can see our innermost hearts.
Study Questions
Application
Our works can expose an indifference towards Jesus. Reflect on your heart posture towards God and others: is it marked by humility and generosity? What does this reveal about your attitude towards Jesus’ sacrifice for you?

Key Points

It’s difficult to know the truth about yourself when you seem to be winning. We must learn to view ourselves as God sees us.
Our sinful condition is not our biggest problem. Our unwillingness to see ourselves truly and come to Jesus is the primary issue.
It is true that Jesus’ blood covers our sins; it is also true that we will give an account of our lives to him.
