123 John | Week 6 | Day 1
Reading
2 JOHN 1:1-3
1 This letter is from John, the elder.I am writing to the chosen lady and to her children, whom I love in the truth—as does everyone else who knows the truth— 2 because the truth lives in us and will be with us forever. 3Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father and from Jesus Christ—the Son of the Father—will continue to be with us who live in truth and love.
1 JOHN 3:18-19
18 Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. 19 Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.
JOHN 14:15-17
15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
Reflection
- Read 2 John 1:3 again. Do you believe that God provides you with grace, mercy, and peace? What barriers, fears, or questions might be keeping you from believing this absolute truth?
- How would your daily life be different if you believed that God provides grace, mercy, and peace? How might others benefit from this change in you?
- If you are a believer, God has given you the Holy Spirit, an advocate who lives inside of you. Do you rely on him? In what way can you start to rely on him more?
