Why
Puerto Rico?
Hurricane Maria (September 2017) remains the most devastating recent natural disaster in Puerto Rico, a Category 4 storm that caused nearly 3,000 deaths and over $90 billion in damage. It destroyed the power grid, causing a long-term humanitarian crisis. Over the next few years, Puerto Rico was further impacted by a series of natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are partnering with Hunger Corp—a local organization helping those who are most vulnerable—after this series of disasters. Many in rural areas have not only lost their homes, but they also have no way of getting government funding since they did not have an official home title. Through short-term mission trips, we are showing the love of Christ and serving communities by rebuilding homes, restoring businesses, and working to bring dignity and sustainability to those who live there.
Our
Partnership
Hunger Corp is a nonprofit organization founded in Puerto Rico. After five years of international projects in the Amazon, Dominican Republic, and Honduras, they focused their efforts and resources on Puerto Rico after Hurricane María. Hunger Corp is committed to restoring dignity by helping communities across Puerto Rico thrive. Through strategic partnerships with government agencies, churches, and local businesses, they work to envision meaningful change, develop sustainable plans, and mobilize both volunteers and financial resources.
Their efforts focus on creating long-term opportunities for flourishing, including initiatives such as home construction, small business development, and community-based support projects. By investing in both people and infrastructure, Hunger Corp is helping build stronger, more resilient communities throughout Puerto Rico.

Can Do
You can consider joining a Grace mission trip to Puerto Rico and invest a week of your life in serving others. Our teams are involved in building relational equity through holistic ministry, including economic development, construction efforts, and other opportunities identified by our in-country partners.
Short-term teams serve in communities to help rebuild homes and restore small businesses, while growing in understanding God’s heart for the world.
