"We had been talking for years about wanting to do a mission trip as a family but never could decide on what organization to be involved with. So when Grace decided to embark on the trip to Chicago, we were excited to be a part of it. We feel like it is important for our children to see us sacrificing and serving outside of our immediate community and being a part of what God is doing in other areas of the country as well as the world. Before the trip our children were not excited to be spending their Spring Break working rather than relaxing. We had several conversations about being others-centered and how we could be a blessing to that community. By the end of the week, our son said he wished we could have stayed longer. It was really special to watch our kids work as a team and interact with the children. Our kids got to experience firsthand the excitement of the children and the impact we could have in just one week. It was humbling to see that the adults who are working at the church there have chosen to give up better paying, more comfortable careers in order to be a part of positive change in their community and bring the love of Christ to their neighbors. We were grateful to be a part of that mission for even a short time."
