Seasonal Giving Spotlight
During the Christmas season this year, all our campuses served their communities through seasonal giving projects. Thank you to everyone who participated—this was a special way to show Jesus’ love to those around us. Each campus worked with one or more local partners, including senior living facilities, schools, DSS and foster families, and more. Here are just a few highlights:
Our Greer campus supported Brookdale Senior Living On Brushy Creek. A group of students and leaders played Christmas bingo and sang Christmas carols with the residents. Students also distributed handmade Christmas cards to residents. Members, mostly community groups, served throughout December by decorating for Christmas, organizing storage closets, hosting a birthday party for all residents with December birthdays, enjoying hot chocolate and Christmas cookies with residents, and taking down Christmas decorations.
It was especially sweet to see our students giving of their time and connecting with an older generation. We are thankful for their willingness to give of their time for others.
Our Downtown campus collected gift cards for Front Porch Housing, and the FPH staff shared this with us:
“Seasonal giving from the Downtown campus was a great blessing to witness this year. As we geared up to hand the cards and gift cards out at our Christmas quarterly meeting, we divided them out accordingly and were able to provide each individual resident in the FPH program with a $100 gift card and an additional $25 per child they had living with them. We ended up having the perfect amount and even a few left over for residents who were moving in a few weeks later. This was a gracious gift that assisted in blessing our residents financially. Due to your generosity, this covered a need so that other donations were able to go towards other physical and experiential gifts that our residents and families received this holiday season.”
These are just a few glimpses into all the ways our local congregations were able to bless their communities during the Christmas season. We are grateful for the generosity of our church body and the opportunity to support our community in tangible ways.
