New Teaching Series

Being a Creature in a Self-Created World

This past weekend, we began a new teaching series—Self Made. It is a badge of honor in American culture to be considered a self-made man or woman. With good reason. Yet, being the god of our own world has a dark side. When we are at the center, the pressure is on us to find happiness, meaning, and security. A message promising freedom turns us into slaves—anxious, tired, and disconnected. Jesus offers something far better. He invites us to give up our lives, embrace him as the main character, and find a different kind of freedom within his design for us.

In this series, we will explore the question—what does it mean to live as creatures in a self-created world? The pressure of being God is not for us to carry. Instead, we can find true rest, joy, and liberation when we let truth triumph over feelings and love others more than ourselves.

self made journal

To accompany the teaching, we have a journal featuring key passages, main ideas, and space to jot down personal application and reflections. You can pick one up at your campus; you can also click below to visit the series page where you will find past teachings, study questions, and additional resources.
