Grace Church Downtown Outreach Fair
One of our core values is being Culturally Engaged, and the primary way we live that out is through both international and local partnerships. Recently, our Downtown campus hosted an Outreach Fair for their members to connect with local organizations that serve the vulnerable and under-resourced in our community. It was a great opportunity for people to learn more about how they can be involved in serving outside the church. At the fair, folks got to connect with representatives from 10 Outreach partners:
- Young Lives
- Foster and Adopt
- The Parker
- Miracle Hill Men’s Rescue Mission
- Jasmine Road
- Carolina High School
- Front Porch Housing
- World Relief
- Eleos
- Mill Village Ministries
We believe serving through local partnerships is a vital way to embody Jesus’ love through serving our communities. It’s also an important discipleship issue—when we build relationships with people who are different from us, we grow in our understanding of God’s Kingdom and what it means to be on mission with him.
Outreach lead Paul Gaeto had this to say about the fair:
One of the things that makes the Downtown campus unique is our proximity to people who live at the margins of our community. So we feel a heightened urgency to care for those in need. Matthew 25:31-46 calls us to care for the hungry and thirsty, the stranger, the imprisoned, and the sick. We are trying to point both our groups and individuals to commit to answering God’s call to live out the gospel in this way.
