Working at Front Porch

Description

In this three-episode series, we are celebrating the two year anniversary of Front Porch Housing by sharing stories from a variety of perspectives. This episode features Front Porch care coordinators Markis Allen and Eyleen Barnes sharing their experiences with our producer, Whitney Maness. They discuss the wins and challenges of their job and how they draw strength from the Spirit to care for their residents.

KEY POINTS

  • Care coordinators are the first touchpoint for supporting residents at Front Porch by meeting regularly, acting as a sounding board, providing access to resources, and building relationships that encourage long-term growth.
  • Being a care coordinator can be a heavy role, but it is sustained by taking advantage of counseling, asking for help, prioritizing physical health, and finding energy by abiding in Christ.
  • Markis and Eyleen are deeply grateful for the ways God has provided for Front Porch these past two years and they have seen constant evidence that he is continuing to transform the lives of both staff and residents through this work.
